Drawing from front woman Rio Scafone’s love of true crime documentaries and the work of Edgar Allan Poe, “Monster” was born. Fascinated by the idea of people in love with serial killers and not even realizing it, she wrote a song as perfect for Halloween as it is for Valentine’s Day (Anti-Valentine’s Day, maybe).

lyrics
Well he's a bad bad boy
He really give you a fright
They say you better run, girl, run
That boy ain't right
Now he's creeping down the hall
Mmm, crawling up the stairs
Looking for blood, yeah, blood
There's a chill in the air
I'm in love with a monster
And he's playing in my head
Yeah, I'm in love with a monster
The one under my bed
He's got a dark, dark heart
Broken right to the core
The world tore it all apart
He cried, "Nevermore"
Tick tock tick tock
Running out of time
Come on, rattle my bones, my bones
To the morning light
'Cause I'm in love with a monster
And he's playing in my head
Yeah, I'm in love with a monster
The one under my bed ... uh
Well the poet's like a profit and he's sticking to the topic
Telling tale using rhythm and rhyme (hoo hoo)
All the gore in the lore and the tell tale sign
He put the back beat under the floor
My carnal creature my fabled freak
Are you friend of for (hoo hoo)
Curiosity killed that cat like
Edgar Allan motherfucking Poe
I'm in love with a monster
Caw
I'm in love with a monster
And he's playing in my head (woo hoo hoo)
Yeah, I'm in love with a monster (monster)
The one under my bed (woo hoo hoo)
Am I clinically obsessed (monster)
Or just erotically repressed (woo hoo hoo)
Come on, tear me to shreds (monster)
I'm like a nervous newlywed (woo hoo hoo)
Well I'm in love with a monster (monster)
And he's playing in my head (woo hoo hoo)
Yeah, I'm in love with a monster (monster)
The one under my bed (woo hoo hoo)
Yeah I'm in love with a monster (monster)
And he's playing in my head (woo hoo hoo)
I'm in looove with a monster (monster)
Under my bed (woo hoo hoo)
(Monster) Well he's a bad bad boy (woo hoo hoo)Woo
(Monster) Ooo-yeah, he's a monster (woo hoo hoo)
(Monster) He's got a dark, dark heart (woo hoo hoo) Yeah
(Monster) Aaaaaah yeah! He's a monster (woo hoo hoo)
(Monster)
